From 1993 to 1995, Ms Wheeler served as Editor-In-Chief for a 25-member Task Force to develop the first and only paper-based version of age-based, patient-centered, 5-Tier telephone triage guidelines (protocols). Both training manual and Adult guidelines include audio CDs, each with re-enactments of 10 different actual telephone triage cases, with follow-up analysis and critique of each call and suggestions for improved practice.

Ms Wheeler’s 1993 “how to” training manual has become a classic in the field. This training manual focuses on how to perform telephone triage, and is a unique combination text/audiotape/workbook.
